Welcome address by the President: HEPAN

I am most delighted to welcome everyone to Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria (HEPAN) managed and administered by Home Economics Council of Nigeria (HECON). Home Economics Council of Nigeria (HECON) founded in the year 2000 in preparation for the XXth World Congress of International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) held in Africa (Lagoon Accra, Ghana). HECON is the administrative Manager of the association comprising the Trustee members and the Executive body that manages Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria (HEPAN) as obtained and addressed in other profession. HEPAN comprises all Home Economics Professional and Practitioners existing in Nigeria and Presidents of all other associations of Home Economics as members of the executives.

VISION AND MISSION OF HEPAN

Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria (HEPAN) is registered with the corporate affairs commission under the companies and allied matters Act No. 1 of 1990 Part C, to collaborate with all Home Economics organizations and associations in Nigeria for the purpose of delivering the object of the mission for which Home Economics stands as a Professional and Subject discipline. It takes into cognizance all the perspectives of Home Economics as primarily concerned with strengthening family relationships among individuals, households and communities. HEPAN has a Board of Trustees and Legal Executive called Home Economics Council of Nigeria (HECON).
The functions of HEPAN includes but not limited to harnessing the activities of Home Economics in Nigeria to ensure that the discipline receive renewed attention from the Federal, State, and Local government such that individuals, families and communities feel the attraction and impact of Home Economics professional practice both within academia and the environment.
Home economics is empowered through research, training and development to lift up the images of professionals and practitioners as a way of promoting leadership, mentoring and possible linear progression. It is the view of HEPAN, that members become professionals by practice and exhibit the characteristic dynamics of a Home Economics Professional at all levels.
